Big Om is one of the oldest and largest fishing competitions in our country, which specializes in hunting big fish.
BIG OM Cup Omišalj was held for the first time in 2006. A group of keen anglers was then convinced of the success of the Cup, the only one in the northern part of the Adriatic and - they did not make a mistake. To this day, Omišalj's story with a soul constantly attracts new anglers eager for unforgettable big game experiences, as well as those old sea wolves, who know that tuna in this area, the largest on the Adriatic.
Along the entire Adriatic, they are held only four big fish hunting competitions: on Vis, Murter and in Vodice, while BIG OM is a unique manifestation in the northern part of the Adriatic. BIG OM – an international competition in hunting big fish – takes place on the last weekend of August in Kvarner water area and gathers numerous competitive teams from Croatia and abroad.
Because BIG OM is in the system of the world organization Offshore world championship (OWC), the winner is guaranteed an appearance at the world competition in big game fishing. The purpose of the event is to bring the charms of the sea and the Mediterranean climate closer to the audience, and to enrich them with sports competitions, superb gastronomic offer and good entertainment.
