Cer oak, richly represented in deep deposits of reddish soil, characteristic of this part of the island of Krk, gave its name to the recognizable peak of Cerovo. On the nearby Veli vrh, which dominates the pier in the bay of Blatna, there was a prehistoric castle with a well-preserved defensive dry wall.
