Cerova trail

Njivice – Cerova – Njivice

Njivice was once a small fishing village, and today it is one of the tourist pearls of the golden island of Krk. If you want to enjoy peace, quiet and untouched nature, indulge yourself in the pleasant walks offered here. This walk is one of those and is intended for all generations. From the center of Njivica, head north to the first turn onto macadam. Here you enter the medunca oak forest, which hides the remains of Krk's past and lush vegetation. The path leads you to the top of Cerovo, which is named after the typical local oak species - cer.

A walk on wide macadam soon replaces a narrow road. The dry-stone walls and the remains of the mošun, which you pass by, remind you of the high intensity of animal husbandry on the island practically just yesterday. In addition to the rich scent of cyclamen in spring, here you can enjoy the chirping of birds, the welcome of deer and butterflies, and archaeological remains from the Roman era. One of such sites is the archaeological site of Mohorov. The remains of a building whose name comes from Saint Hermagoras bear witness to the settlement being abandoned before the end of the 8th century. From Mohorovo, you go down to the former pier in Blatna bay and continue along narrow paths along the sea and picturesque bays. The dense forest on the coast directly overhangs the sea, so you can come across places where tree branches shade the sea surface. Under that natural shade, in a good mood, you return to the center of Njivica.

The Cerova trail is ideal for all nature and hiking lovers who want to explore the beauty of the island of Krk in an active way. It is suitable for walkers of all age groups, and the ideal time for walking is spring and autumn when the temperatures are more pleasant and nature is dressed in its most beautiful clothes.
